Eleanor Xu

I stumbled into yoga in my late 20s at the time when I was a stressed out Engineer working up to 14 hours. During my introductory period, I felt and knew this was "it"... what my mind and body was craving for. Eventually I went for teacher training in the Fall of 2008. Have been teaching since. My daily practice is Key to the understanding of the Bikram Yoga ...and myself.

I have worked in different movement modalities with all ages for over two decades and look forward to finding out what motivates and inspires you! See you in the hot room.

Dee Evans

For me yoga is a practice which always manages to meet me wherever I am in life. I love both a strong vinyasa and a soft yin class. As a teacher my passion lies in guiding students towards a deeper connection to themselves. My classes are a space for people to quiet all the noise and find their way back to themselves.

Valentyne Tuiavi’i

Ngati Awa, Ngati Kahungunu, Samoan

My yoga journey started during pregnancy in 2016. I did my first hot yoga class at Hot Yoga Works studio in 2023 and really loved the practise no matter how challenging it felt during the 90 minutes.!

As a mother, prioritizing my health and fitness isn't just about personal well-being; it's a powerful example I set for my daughter, showing her the value of self-care and nurturing our bodies through practices like yoga, which infuse vitality into our lives.

Alieyah Tuiavii

Kia Ora, my name is Alieyah but I usually go by Ali.

Nō Ngāti awa, Tūhoe, Ngāti Kahungunu, nō Hāmoa.

I’ve been doing both yoga and Pilates for about three years now, and I absolutely love it.

It’s helped me so much both mentally and physically, and it’s been a real drive for me to get out of the house and do something for myself.

Our story

It all started in a car park. We’d just finished a Hot Yoga class in the Downtown car park, standing there sweaty, happy, and talking about how much we wished there was a studio out West. We looked at each other and had a lightbulb moment — why don’t we just open one ourselves?

Between the two of us, we’ve been practicing on and off for around 10 years. Not perfectly. Not consistently. Just doing our best to show up when we could.

Woody has been doing Hot Yoga since 2015 and introduced me to it in 2019. I started with Hot HIIT Pilates and absolutely fell in love. Hot Yoga? I tried it once and said, “nope, never again.”
Fast forward to now… I can’t stop doing Hot Yoga, and Woody can’t stop doing Hot HIIT Pilates. We’ve pretty much swapped, and learned that balance between the two really is powerful.

There were so many times we’d look at our class passes, knowing we had to drive into the city, find parking, rush to class, and rush home again. We loved the practice, we just hated the journey. We wanted something simple. Somewhere you could park easily, go to class, walk out feeling good, and get home.

That frustration turned into intention.
And that intention became Hiyoga Henderson.

We’re not perfect. We didn’t have it all figured out. But we believe in welcoming all shapes and sizes, all fitness levels, and all levels of motivation. If we can show up, try, fall off, and come back again, truly, anyone can.

Thank you for being here, for supporting us, and for being part of something that started as a simple wish and grew into a community we’re so proud of.
